Title of the magazine is onomatopoeia for the sound an electric guitar makes when a power chord is played. This is an instant relation to the genre of the magazine. The edgier look of this magazine is a representation of the kind of artists usually featured in this magazine. The colour scheme of black and red matches this, it is a code for rocky types, which relates to my own chosen genre.
The masthead is partially covered by the band members suggesting that the magazine is so well known that it's not vital for all of it to be shown. The font used is very simple yet with the usage of a sort of cracked glass effect it changes the look and makes it suitable for this genre. Although it is mostly obscured you can see that the background of the central image matches this cracked glass look, this is an interesting concept and is one that isn't often seen.
As this is highly similar to the type of indie magazine i plan to create I'm very interested in the type of stories covered. As you can see there is a equal spread of band interviews with free giveaways. This one in particular has gone with the typical free poster give away as is seen in most music magazines. It also suggests another give away at the top of the magazine.
In this particular issue the artist name is the same size as the magazine title, this shows that the magazine appeals to its audience by focusing on the featured band. Other points that are highlighted is the word free and the added plus, suggesting the magazine is giving away a lot more than it usually would.
The key demographic for this magazine appears to be a younger, possibly rebellious group. A positive thing about this magazine is that it can appeal to any social class, but it is more likely to be lower to middle classes.
